SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Back-to-back victories are tough in any sport, but Ripper GC, led by Marc Leishman, gave it a great shot at LIV Golf Chicago.

One event after winning the team competition at LIV Golf Bedminster, the team finished seventh on the team leaderboard at 21 under for the week. Ripper GC put itself in position for a nice finish and closed just two shots outside of a top-five finish.

Leishman found something in his game at Rich Harvest Farms. After rounds of 67 and 68, the Aussie closed with a 5-under 66 to finish one shot behind winner Bryson DeChambeau. It was Leishman’s best finish of the season. He had a third-place finish at LIV Golf London in July and was eighth in the event before Chicago at LIV Golf Bedminster.

Leishman did his best work on the par 4s on Sunday, notching five birdies on those holes while adding birdies on two par 5s. His only hiccup came on the par-3 fourth hole when he made double bogey. Leishman finished second on the week in greens in regulation (79.63%)

Teammate Matt Jones provided a 2-under 69 and Jediah Morgan, who shot 66 on Friday, added the final counting score of 1-over 72.

Captain Cameron Smith was coming off an individual victory at Bedminster and had counting scores during the first two days but finished with a 2-over 73 on Sunday.
